After School Program Assistant

Job Summary
Looking for someone to help with cooking and shared responsibilities as well as skilled in Martial Arts, Sports, Woodworking or Naturalism, Social Outreach or Leadership Training To Join our vibrant after school program team as an After School Program Assistant! We do not believe in using any form of online media so having a toolbox of hands-on skills is necessary. Behavioral Managment Training is also a plus. In this dynamic role, you will support the development and well-being of children by creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster positive experiences for children after school hours, encouraging their growth through educational activities, recreational play, and social interaction. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while spending time in nature and gaining valuable experience in childcare, education, and youth development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during after school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Facilitate engaging and adventurous activities in nature or hands-on skills that promote learning, creativity, and social skills
  • Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques
  • Assist with homework help, tutoring, and educational exercises tailored to individual student needs
  • Support children with special education requirements or behavioral challenges as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized activity space, ensuring all materials are safe and accessible
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and staff to update on children's progress and needs

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or babysitting is highly valued
  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies and childhood development principles
  • Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Familiarity with special education practices or experience supporting children with diverse learning needs is a plus
  • Strong skills in behavior management and creating inclusive environments for all children
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative and independence
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their growth in a nurturing environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.50 - $16.50 per hour
