After School Program Assistant

Duties

• Supervise children during after school hours, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
• Plan and facilitate engaging activities that promote childhood development, creativity, teamwork, and physical activity
• Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to maintain a positive atmosphere
• Assist with homework help, tutoring, or educational activities aligned with early childhood education standards
• Implement safety protocols including first aid procedures and emergency response plans when necessary
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other staff to support each child's individual needs and progress
• Support special education needs by adapting activities and providing personalized assistance as required

Requirements

• Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare environments
• Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques
• Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Background in early childhood education or childhood development preferred
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a lively environment with enthusiasm and patience
• Experience with sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting, or Christian counseling is a plus but not required
