Waypoint Social is a new after-school teen center designed for neurodivergent middle and high school students. Our mission is to provide a supportive, structured, and engaging environment where students can practice social communication, develop friendships, and build confidence through guided activities and community experiences.
We’re launching this innovative program and are seeking a Program Lead who will play a central role in shaping the culture, structure, and day-to-day operations. This role is designed with growth in mind: as our programs expand, including the future launch of Waypoint Independent (young adult classes focused on life skills and independence), the Program Lead will have opportunities to expand their leadership and impact.
The Role:
As Program Lead, you’ll be the heart of Waypoint Social, overseeing group activities, guiding staff, and ensuring students feel supported and included. You will bring both creativity and structure, ensuring sessions are fun, safe, and meaningful while meeting individualized social learning goals.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, cares deeply about neurodiverse learners, and is eager to help grow a new community initiative from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Oversee the daily flow of after-school sessions (two blocks per day), ensuring structured, engaging, and inclusive activities.
- Student Support: Facilitate positive peer interactions, provide direct guidance, and help students build friendships and confidence.
- Team Management: Supervise and support a small staff team (6:1 student-to-staff ratio), ensuring consistency and quality of instruction.
- Family Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians, providing updates and collaborating on student goals.
- Program Development: Partner with leadership to refine activities, outcomes, and reporting structures as the program grows.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, supportive environment consistent with best practices in working with neurodivergent youth.
What We’re Looking For:
- A warm, approachable leader who students and staff alike will look up to.
- Someone excited to help build a program from the ground up.
- A professional who believes deeply in the strengths of neurodivergent youth and understands the challenges they face socially.
Qualifications:
- Professional degree and licensure preferred (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3+ years of experience working with neurodivergent youth in a school, clinical, or recreational setting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both students and parents.
- Ability to balance structure with flexibility — thinking on your feet and problem-solving in real time.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for designing engaging social experiences.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Hours: After-school program hours (M–Th, 3:00–8:00 PM), plus prep and planning time. Scheduling may vary depending on demand and enrollment.
- Compensation: $35–$45 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Additional opportunities for growth as Waypoint expands into Waypoint Independent and other initiatives.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
