Overview
The Support Staff plays a vital role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students. This position involves working closely with children in various educational and recreational settings, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for education and experience working with children, along with skills in classroom management and behavior management.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage students during activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Implement lesson plans and educational activities that promote learning and development.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, utilizing positive reinforcement strategies.
- Provide support to lead staff.
- Assist in the organization of recreational activities, including sports, arts, and crafts.
- Maintain open communication with lead staff regarding student progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive program that meets the needs of all students.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in first aid, child development, and educational techniques.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is essential.
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain an effective learning environment.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development theories.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to support diverse student needs.
- First aid certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Background in special education or tutoring is a plus.
- Experience in sports coaching, theater, camp counseling, or similar roles is advantageous.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students while promoting their social-emotional growth.
