Position Summary
The Aftercare Preschool Teacher provides a warm, engaging, and safe environment for young children at the end of the school day. The teacher helps children transition smoothly from the school day to a more relaxed afternoon routine while maintaining consistency and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children ages 3–5 during aftercare.
- Create a calm and inviting environment through choice-based activities such as art, outdoor exploration, dramatic play, and story time.
- Support children in developing self-help and social skills (e.g., cooperation, problem-solving, and communication).
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children, following school policies and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the classroom teaching team and Director about children’s needs, attendance, or any concerns.
- Prepare and tidy materials and classroom spaces at the end of the day.
- Maintain a warm, positive presence that reflects the values of the school community.
Qualifications
- Experience working with preschool-age children (ages 3–5).
- Background in early childhood education, child development, or related field preferred.
- Dependable, calm, and nurturing demeanor.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Compensation
- Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
- Opportunity for additional hours as a substitute.
