Aftercare Teacher & Activities Coordinator

An ideal candidate for our Aftercare Teacher & Activities Coordinator position is familiar with and/or experienced in working from a play-based, nature-infused, arts-forward philosophy. They are a strong initiator and communicator with patience and a good sense of humor. They have a curious and creative approach and are able to recognize and incorporate the strengths/skills of their colleagues into activities. They are also flexible/adaptable to the daily surprises/needs that come up when working with children.

Details
Job Title: Aftercare Teacher & Activities Coordinator | works with children in the 3-5 year old group & the 2 year old group
Hours: Monday-Friday 1 pm - 6 pm (25 hr/wk) + monthly evening teacher meetings + occasional weekend or evening festivals & annual parent-teacher conferences (hours vary but are given in advance)
Compensation: starting $20 hour, commensurate with experience (DCFS credentials & experience are considered), PTO; tuition discount; professional development assistance

*Note that training hours may include some daytime hours which are tbd

Responsibilities
➽ Collaborate with Aftercare Teaching teams from both classrooms to complete lunch clean-up, snack prep, after-nap clean-up duties, and end-of-day closing responsibilities
➽ Collaborate with Aftercare teachers and programming administration team to develop, coordinate, and set-up seasonally inspired activities and projects for the children in our Aftercare program.
➽ Lead and/or support said projects/experiences for children 2-5 years.
➽ Nurture positive relationships with parents at pick-up time, establishing and maintaining strong communication about their child's daily experiences.➽ Model appropriate behavior (kindness, gentleness, respect) and provide guidance to children in social interactions as needed.➽ Practice safe and appropriate diapering, toileting, and handwashing practices.➽ Maintain the confidentiality and safety of the children and families in our program0
➽ Maintain professional development requirements

Experience, Credentials & Qualification Requirements
➽ Minimum of an associates in ECE or 3-5 years experience working with children ages 2-5 years
➽ Leadership experience that has included working with adults
➽ Experience, knowledge, and/or enthusiasm about a Waldorf-infused approach to early childhood programming
➽ Enthusiasm and preparedness for outdoor all-weather play and interest in leading outdoor activities
➽ Pass all DCFS licensing requirements: background check, health exam, TB test, etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
