Position Summary

The Afternoon Pre-K Teacher supports a structured, engaging classroom environment for four- to five-year-old children. This position focuses on reinforcing daily learning, supporting social-emotional development, and maintaining a positive, organized classroom during afternoon transitions, enrichment activities, and closing routines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support and extend morning curriculum activities in the afternoon.
  • Lead small-group activities, centers, and enrichment experiences.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Supervise children during playtime, snack, and transitions.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and positive behavior strategies.
  • Assist with toileting and hygiene routines as needed.
  • Communicate with families during pick-up regarding daily activities.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow all licensing regulations and center policies.
  • Assist with end-of-day closing duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or Early Childhood coursework preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool or Pre-K children preferred.
  • Knowledge of kindergarten readiness skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active play.

Reports To: Director or Assistant Director

Schedule:
Monday–Friday
1:00 PM – 5:30 PM

What We’re Looking For:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to pass a state background check
  • Someone patient, compassionate, and reliable
  • Experience with infants preferred but not required—we will train!
