Afternoon Medication Tech

Overview
Join our dedicated healthcare team as an Afternoon Shift Medication Tech, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, high-quality care to residents in assisted living and memory care setting. This position offers an energetic environment focused on enhancing patient well-being through attentive medical support and personalized care. As an Afternoon Med Tech, you will be responsible for assisting with daily health monitoring, medication administration, and supporting residents with diverse needs including memory care, hospice, and individuals with disabilities. Your expertise will help foster a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all residents.

**All Medication Technicians are required to complete a minimum of two (2) months working in the role of a Home Health Aide prior to independently performing medication administration duties. This requirement is intended to ensure that Med Techs develop a strong understanding of each resident's routines, preferences, behaviors, and care needs.

Duties

  • Administer medications accurately following physician orders and document all medication activities in electronic health record.
  • Monitor vital signs regularly and record findings meticulously to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and feeding needs, transfers and showers.
  • Support residents with Dementia or Alzheimer’s by implementing specialized memory care techniques and ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain detailed medical documentation consistent with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to update medical records, report changes in condition, and assist during acute care situations.
  • Provide compassionate caregiving support within assisted living, home care, hospice environments, or working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills required.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or community-based care settings is required.
  • Must complete a minimum of two (2) month working as a Home Health Aide within the facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direct resident care, including activities or daily living (ADLs).
  • Must develop familiarity with residents routine, behaviors, preferences, and individualized care needs prior to performing medication administration independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic nursing skills such as catheter care and colostomy care.
  • Familiarity with EMAR Systems.
  • Experience in medication administration and vital signs monitoring is required.
  • Background in caring for seniors or individuals with dementia or disabilities enhances your ability to provide empathetic support.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures compliance with patient privacy standards.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
