Job Summary
The Aggregate Plant Superintendent oversees daily operations at one or more aggregate production sites, including pits and quarries. This role ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. The superintendent leads crews in the field, manages equipment and maintenance, and keeps operations running smoothly to meet material demand and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture across all operations.
- Supervise daily production activities to meet company targets for quality, tonnage, and cost control.
- Coordinate and monitor crushing, screening, and material handling operations to maintain steady production flow.
- Oversee plant and mobile equipment maintenance; schedule and plan repairs to minimize downtime.
- Inspect production areas regularly to ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental standards.
- Train, coach, and develop crew members for safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Work closely with dispatch, quality control, and trucking teams to meet delivery and quality requirements.
- Track production data, inventories, and equipment hours; prepare reports as required.
- Assist with planning and budgeting for labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory personnel.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in hard aggregate or sandstone production or related field required.
- 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a quarry or pit operation preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of crushing, screening, and material handling processes.
- Familiar with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Capable of troubleshooting and diagnosing plant and equipment issues.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to maintain records and reports.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- MSHA certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) required.

Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment and loud noise.
- Walk, climb, and stand on uneven ground for extended periods.
- Wear and maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Travel between sites and occasional overnight stays may be required.
