Agronomist & Soil Expert - Water Industry

Position

The Agronomist & Soil Expert will be responsible for overseeing all agronomy-related tasks associated with establishing, managing and monitoring the BDC plots as part of the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities of the project.

The primary project location is Al Badaa, Tabuk Region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Requirements
  • Academic: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-8 years of experience managing agricultural field trials, crop monitoring, biosolids or fertilizer application trials, and interpreting agronomic data.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing agronomic plans for plot establishment, crop selection and planting cycles.
  • Overseeing plantation activities and ensuring proper irrigation, fertilization, nutrient dosing and overall plant care.
  • Conducting routine field inspections to identify and address plant health issues (e.g., nutrient deficiencies, diseases, pests).
  • Monitoring crop growth and performance using agronomic indicators (e.g., biomass, growth stage assessments).
  • Guiding the application of fertilizer treatments and ensuring consistency with approved protocols/SOPs.
  • Providing technical support on biosolid application rates, soil-plant interactions and expected crop response.
  • Supporting sampling activities (soil, plant tissue, irrigation water) and ensuring samples are collected and handled correctly for lab analysis.
  • Maintaining accurate field records and ensuring all agronomic data specified in the protocol is captured and stored properly.
  • Working closely with the technical consultant and Client employees to interpret results, troubleshoot issues, and optimize trial outcomes.
  • Carrying out routine husbandry (e.g., check for plant diseases, pests etc.).
  • Making assessments and observations (e.g., germination, NDVI).
  • Applying experimental treatments.
  • Collecting soil/biosolids/plant samples and assisting in processing them as appropriate to prepare samples for lab analysis (including dispatch to the laboratory).
  • Ensuring that all data specified in the protocol/SOP has been collected and stored in the correct format.
  • Tracking experimental progress and analyzing outcomes in collaboration with the technical consultant and Client employees.
