About Us
Succeed.Net is one of Northern California’s leading fixed-wireless and fiber ISPs with industry-leading reliability, automation, and customer service. We’re expanding our internal engineering team to build the next generation of AI-powered ISP automation software — provisioning, monitoring, LOS/LIDAR analysis, customer workflows, and much more.
Our internal systems are stable and mature. We need someone who can both:
- maintain our small cluster of Linux servers and ISP services, and
- spend the majority of their time building powerful automation and internal software.
This is an in-office role where you’ll work directly with the CEO and a senior engineer.
Position Summary
We’re hiring an AI-Accelerated Systems & Automation Engineer to:
✔ Spend ~75–80% of your time building internal automation & software, and
✔ Spend ~20–25% of your time maintaining our ISP Linux servers and services
The server admin portion is not intense — our systems are well-managed and currently maintained part-time in roughly 8–12 hours/week. But we want this role in-house, reliable, and integrated with our engineering team.
Responsibilities Breakdown
Automation & Internal Software Development (~75–80%)
- Build tools that automate ISP workflows: provisioning, onboarding, network monitoring, outage systems, customer flows, etc.
- Integrate APIs from routers, radios, billing systems, mapping tools, and network systems.
- Develop and implement automation solutions utilizing languages such as Python, C++, Java, and scripting tools like Bash and Shell Scripting.
- Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Docker, and other DevOps tools to streamline development workflows.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat intelligence analysis, system hardening, and security management to safeguard infrastructure against cyber threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions leveraging NoSQL databases (MongoDB), SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQ), and data integration tools like ETL processes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in quantum engineering, information security, SDLC practices (Agile), and system architecture trends.
- Develop modules in our AI-augmented automation platform.
- Use AI coding tools (Codex, Claude, Cursor etc.) to dramatically accelerate coding speed.
- Work daily with our senior engineer and CEO. You will be important part of small impactful team.
- Ship features fast — days or weeks, not months.
- Help architect the commercial version of our software platform (to sell to other ISPs).
Linux / ISP Systems Administration (~20–25%)
Our servers are stable and low-maintenance. Your job is to own them without letting them consume your time.
You will:
- Maintain ~20-30 production Linux servers (email, DNS, web hosting, billing, automation).
- Manage Linux-based systems including system hardening, system administration, virtualization (VMware, ESXi), and cloud deployment on AWS and Azure.
- Support system design efforts for high availability and load balancing using technologies such as VMware vSphere and Kubernetes clusters.
- Apply updates, patches, and security hardening.
- Manage basic LAMP/LEMP stacks, mail services, DNS, SSL certs, backups, and logs.
- Monitor uptime and ensure reliability.
- Handle occasional emergency issues (rare, but critical when they happen).
- Improve scripts, tooling, and reliability for these systems.
- Document processes and automate routine tasks.
- Virtualization (VMware VSphere ) and UNIX Docker
This portion is predictable and lightweight — think 8–12 hrs/week on average, less when things are smooth.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Strong Linux/Unix administration background
- Strong networking knowledge (VLANs, routing, DNS, IP addressing)
- Programming experience (Python strongly preferred; Bash/Go a plus)
- Comfort maintaining production services (email, DNS, web hosting, simple databases)
- Troubleshooting mindset
- Ability to work in-office
- Good communication & reliability
- Experience or interest in AI-assisted coding
Nice to Have
- ISP experience (fixed wireless or fiber)
- Familiarity with MagicMail, cPanel, UISP, postfix/dovecot, etc.
- Knowledge of Ubiquiti, MikroTik, Cambium, or similar WISP platforms
- Experience Monitoring/alerting systems
- Automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)
- Experience with Django, FastAPI, or similar backends
Why Join Us
