Pyramid Technical Consultants, Inc. is a California Small Business with 25 years of IT consulting exclusively for California state government (CDCR, CalPERS, DHCS, EDD, State Treasurer, and more). PTC holds an active CMAS certification and is responding to a CalSTRS solicitation for a senior AI Delivery Lead professional.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

PTC is seeking an experienced AI Delivery Lead to be proposed as our candidate for a California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) engagement. You will lead delivery of AI and machine learning initiatives within CalSTRS's Technology Services division — managing AI project lifecycles from concept to production, coordinating data science, engineering, and business teams, and reporting progress to executive stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS — ALL FOUR REQUIRED

1. AI/ML Project Management — 3+ Years

Documented experience managing AI or ML projects, including data pipelines, model lifecycle management, and deployment. You must be able to describe specific projects in writing for the bid submission.

2. IT Project Management — 5+ Years

Five or more years managing complex IT projects using PMI/PMBOK, Agile, SDLC, or ITIL frameworks. PMP or equivalent certification strongly preferred.

3. Cross-Functional Team Leadership — 3+ Years

Experience leading teams including data scientists, ML engineers, and business stakeholders across organizational boundaries.

4. Stakeholder Communication & Executive Reporting — 3+ Years

Experience preparing executive briefings, steering committee presentations, and written status reports for complex technology programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, SAFe, or ITIL certification

California state or local government IT experience

Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS) and DevOps/MLOps tools

Experience with Clarity PPM, MS Project, Jira, Confluence, or Jama

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field

BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED

CalSTRS requires a background investigation for all contractors before they begin work. Candidates must be willing and able to pass a state background check.
