Housey Pharma is seeking an AI Drug Discovery Scientist to accelerate therapeutic efforts for the world’s most deadly diseases, including Diabetes, Cancer and Dementia, by building machine-learning and generative-AI models for target hit discovery and lead optimization. This candidate will play a critical role in expanding and testing the capabilities of Housey Pharma’s Drug Discovery Platform (HPDDP), which has already led to the discovery of an IRS-2 activator that helps restore insulin sensitivity in Diabetes patients. The candidate will work under with the Director of AI for Drug Discovery and should be self-motivated, have a start-up mindset, and be able to accomplish their goals with little oversight.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Designing, training, and testing novel machine-learning and generative AI models for small-molecule drug discovery.
• Fine-tuning existing ML models for biology including protein-language models (e.g. ESM-2).
• Running molecular simulations and pre-built AI/ML tools for lead optimization.
• Curating publicly available data for in-house model training.
• Predicting chemical, biological, and clinical properties of small-molecules.
• Developing code, scripts, and software from scratch or pre-existing open-source repositories.
• Keeping strong documentation and code organization.
• Searching and reviewing relevant literature and scientific articles.
• Keeping up to date on the most recent models for drug discovery.
• Presenting your results to team-members and your supervisor.

**Requirements**

• Master’s degree in a relevant field OR a Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of research experience in computational drug discovery or machine learning.
• Experience in building, training, and testing machine-learning models.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Python or another coding language.
• Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge in chemistry, biology, and common machine-learning model architectures (GNNs, Diffusion, Transformer, GANs).
• Deep interest in drug discovery and helping patients.
• Openness to learn new approaches and technologies in computational chemistry and AI/ML.

Ideal skills (great to have, but it is ok if you don’t):

• Experience with molecular dynamics (AMBER, GROMACS, Schrodinger) or quantum simulations.
• Knowledge of protein classes and their functions (kinases, phosphatases, disordered proteins).
• Familiarity with chemistry and biology data (Mass-spectrometry, qPCR, sequencing data, etc.).
• Proficiency with LLMs for code development (Claude Code, GitHub CoPilot,, etc.).

Your models will directly serve our in-house drug discovery team by generating new hit and lead compounds that will be tested in the lab and, when successful, in future clinical trials. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to discover medicines directed to some of the most challenging biological targets in the human genome, including intrinsically disordered proteins, which are involved in some of the deadliest human diseases.
