AI Software Development Engineer (SDE) Intern - Mandarin Speaking Required

Location: Irvine, CA
Work Type: Onsite (minimum 20 hours/week)

Role Overview

We are hiring an SDE Intern to support backend development, API design, and product-oriented system building.
This role is onsite in Irvine and works closely with engineering, product, and operations teams. The ideal candidate is technically solid, product-minded, and comfortable working across engineering, market understanding, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Participate in system architecture and API interface design
• Write clear technical documentation (API specs, internal system docs)
• Conduct basic market research to support product and system decisions
• Analyze competitor products, pricing models
• Translate market insights into product and technical requirements
• Collaborate with product and operations teams across regions
• Support communication between English- and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Familiar with backend development and API design
• Solid software engineering fundamentals
• Comfortable writing structured technical and product documentation
• Able to read and speak Mandarin for technical and product communication
• Comfortable conducting market research and competitive analysis
• Strong understanding of U.S. product, market, or startup environment
• Product-oriented mindset, beyond pure coding tasks
• Able to work onsite in Irvine at least 20 hours per week

Nice to Have

• Experience combining technical work with market or product analysis
• Familiarity with subscription models, SaaS, or hardware-enabled services
• Experience with cloud platforms or modern backend frameworks
• Experience working in bilingual or cross-border teams
