Basic Function:
Performs Flight Dispatch activities in support of company flights from Aloula bases. Supervises and leads the planning, scheduling, dispatch and flight following for company flights while on shift.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Plans and/or coordinates the flight according to the User request, routing and required ground handling. Schedules the flight with the appropriate aircraft type and configuration. Determines required fuel and available cabin load.
• Ensures flight crew is notified and legal to fly & arranges for crew transport to the airport. Ensures that the aircraft scheduled is released by maintenance, fuel uplift is completed, cabin is configured properly and positioned at the appropriate spot on the ramp and catering has been requested
• Prepares for crew briefing by preparing flight plan and load record. Confirms Civil Aviation/Military clearance requirements are met, prepared and recorded. Collects and reviews weather and NOTAM information. Adjusts schedule as required.
• Provides crew briefing & dispatch of flight. Review with Pilot in Command, scheduled routings, load plan, weather, NOTAMS, flight plan & arrival point ground handling. Compiles records & reports consisting of shift log book, daily reports for management, collecting & filing flight records.
• Performs flight watch and flight following duties. Operates air/ground radios and Aviation Data Terminals. Responds to emergency telephone systems. Updates and maintains contact records. Understands and practices privileged information, policies and procedures.
• Performs post flight actions consisting of review of actual vs scheduled routing, passenger & cargo requirements were satisfied and ensures that any unfinished flight requirements are rescheduled if necessary. Ensures maintenance status of the aircraft will not affect the next scheduled departure
• Ensures flight crew is legal to fly for next day operation, ground transportation is available, crew is advised of any recent changes in assignments & submits all required documents & reports pertaining to the flight. Participates in Dept. TQM Program & performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor and distribute the work load between other dispatchers. Provides tutoring & training as established in the Job Training Standard. Maintains 10% emergency & safety efficiency, includes familiarization of the Unit Emergency Reaction Guide & participates in emergency desk exercises. Performs specific duties as contained in Area Operations Procedures Guide.
Education: Diploma in Aviation or higher education in related field
Knowledge and Experience: Minimum Years in the Special Field: 4 years
License and Certificates: GACA Aircraft Dispatcher License
