$1,500 sign on and $2,500 relocation bonus available to qualifying external applicants.


The Portland International Jetport is seeking a highly motivated individual for the Engineering and Facilities Department. Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this position will assist in the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems throughout the airport terminal and parking garage facility.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in general building maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and to interpret plans, sketches, blueprints and diagrams.
  • Skill in locating and correcting defects in many different types of electrical systems.
  • Skill in locating, troubleshooting, and repairing defects on many different types of electrical and mechanical systems, or any facility related systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
  • Ability to pass all required background investigations and maintain a valid Class C Maine Driver’s License.
  • Licensed as a State of Maine Helper Electrician or licensed as a State of Maine Apprentice Oil Burner, Solid Fuel Technician.


Training & Experience Desired:

  • Prior HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or industrial maintenance experience in a large facility.
  • State of Maine Natural Gas certification or equivalent, EPA certification in refrigeration or equivalent.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform regular inspections of landside facility equipment and correct any deficiencies found.
  • Install, maintain, and service electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and plumbing equipment throughout the airport terminal building under the guidance of licensed technicians.
  • General building maintenance and repairs.
  • Escort and supervise contractor staff in secure areas for project work.

Expected Hours/Schedule:

Second shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, Labor and Trades (Grade 18A) - Salary range starting $27.01/hour - $30.38/hour, based on experience.
