Airport Line Service Technician

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Line Service Technician position performs manual labor tasks, mechanical work, fueling and ancillary sales at Northeast Ohio Regional Airport.

· Learns and applies rules and regulations related to airport operations

· Maintain excellent public relations with public and pilots

· Performs unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor

· Must be able to read and use computerized credit sales equipment

· Prepare work areas and sites by loading equipment, tools and materials required to perform the work assignment

· Drive and operate vehicles to perform tasks assigned

· Drive fuel trucks, towing vehicles (tugs), vehicles to clear snow and any others required for the duties assigned

· Keep vehicles and machinery clean

· Fuel various types of aircraft

· Assist in pumping fuel into storage tanks and fuel trucks

· Tow aircraft into and out of hangar space

· Operate equipment required to transact sales related to fueling aircraft and retailing ancillary items to aviation

· Monitor the aviation radio for local traffic, answers UNICOM calls, provides information requested, provides fuel, courtesy car availability and other related information

· Greet and park all transit traffic and aircraft as needed

· Determine need for maintenance and repair on vehicles and equipment, notifying the Lineservice Lead of deficiencies and/or maintenance and repair required

· Performs repairs and maintenance as assigned

· Aircraft lavatory services

· Aircraft deicing

· Fuel farm and fuel truck inspections and record keeping

· Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) daily inspections

· Customer service desk duties

· Baggage handling

· Grass mowing

· Wildlife mitigation

· Janitorial and light maintenance duties relating to FBO facilities, hangars and equipment

· Work as a team to maintain excellent customer service relations

· Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

· Bending, lifting, squatting and climbing 6 – 15 ft. ladders

· Maintain a professional, pressed, well-groomed appearance

· Maintain a clean work environment

· Complete annual NATA training and other assigned training

· Provide reliable transportation and be knowledgeable with computers

· Performs other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants must have the following qualifications:

· Must be a least 18 years of age

· High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

· Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

· Pass all security background checks

· Must be able to pass a drug / alcohol screening with random annual screening

· Knowledge and skill in using hand tools and equipment

· Knowledge of safety procedures in using equipment

· Ability to successfully accomplish assigned task after receiving instruction

· Ability to compute numbers and to read with comprehension

· Skill in following oral instructions

· Ability to work independently

· Must have ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and carry out assignments with minimal direction

· Ability to read, understand and communicate fluently in the English language

· Ability to interact in a positive manner with the public and transit pilots

· Verbal perception, motor coordination, manual dexterity

· Ability to follow instructions, operate safely, and perform manual labor

· Must possess a valid driver’s license, possess driving record acceptable to Airport’s insurance carrier

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Applicant must be able to meet the following working conditions and physical requirements:

-Perform on- call weekend duties as required (rotation schedule with staff to cover on-call)

· Much of the work is performed outdoors in inclement weather and during all seasons and various hours

· Some work may be performed in confined areas, on slick and wet surfaces

· May be exposed to vibrations, loud continuous noise, offensive smells, dust, dirt and water

· Must possess skill or ability to learn operation of light truck, mowers, edgers, weed eater, compressors, and ability to use shovels, rakes, etc.

· May be exposed to injury from moving equipment, insect bites, poison plants, flying objects, slippery surfaces, or hazardous materials

· Perform strenuous tasks

· Drive and operate vehicles

· Use small hand tools and equipment and operate equipment require to transact retail sales

· Determine need for and perform minor maintenance and repair on vehicles and equipment

General knowledge of gas/diesel equipment operation along with mechanical ability to diagnosis and repair such equipment. Certifications for operation of equipment would be a plus. Work as a team to ensure superior Customer Service for both airport tenants along with public; Ability to work independently while taking direction(s) from appropriate individual(s)/Airport Manager. Ability to operate various airport/farm equipment from lawn tractor to larger mowing equipment to larger snow removal equipment along with dump truck; Maintenance knowledge along with repair of equipment; snow removal; grass cutting; runway inspection along with clearing/sweeping; janitorial along with light maintenance duties related to FBO facilities, hangars and equipment; moving along with parking of multi-million dollar aircraft; fueling of aircraft; de-icing of aircraft; animal control regarding runways along with open areas; ability to offer suggestions on airport operations with airport manager; on call for weekends (rotating) along with federally recognized holidays (rotating); ability to work in all weather conditions; ability to lift up to 50+ pounds; bending, lifting, squatting and climbing 6 foot + ladders; knowledge and use of handheld or portable radios;. Maintain a clean work environment; maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance; complete annual mandated training. Other duties as required. ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS BACKGROUND/DRUG TEST ESSENTIAL.

TRAVEL TIME SHOULD BE WITHIN 30 MINUTES FROM HOME TO AIRPORT DUE TO ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS

ALL appropriate training will be conducted.
