Airport Safety & Compliance Training Coordinator

Examples of Duties

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to wear and utilize required safety equipment such as respirators, hearing protection, or fall restraining harnesses as required by the conditions present at any incident and as required under applicable state or federal regulations.
  • Experience delivering presentations and training to diverse audiences.
  • Availability for on-call support and occasional after-hours work for critical system maintenance.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Education, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in occupational health and safety and program administration, preferably in an airport, government, or highly regulated environment.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Duties & Responsibilities
Under administrative direction, is responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating training activities, as well as safety and compliance program functions, to ensure regulatory compliance, workforce readiness, and the promotion of a strong safety culture within the Employee Health, Safety & Compliance Program.

Training & Education
  • Coordinate and deliver Employee Health, Safety, and Compliance training across all divisions.
  • Facilitate instructor-led, onboarding, refresher, and compliance-based training sessions.
  • Lead ramp safety training related to airfield operations and safe work practices.
  • Ensure all training aligns with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, presentations, and job aids.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and support compliance efforts.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to support training registration, recordkeeping, and other related activities.
Safety Compliance & Program Support
  • Responds to employee injuries, illnesses, and near misses.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes.
  • Identifies trends and translates findings into targeted training needs.
  • Delivers on-the-job training and field coaching to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Prepares and maintains safety reports outlining trends in motor vehicle accidents, near misses, first aid, and medically treated injuries.
  • Incorporates incident findings to improve training programs.
  • Maintains phone availability for on-call support on a rotating schedule outside of regular business hours.
  • Performs related duties as required.
