Airport Technician - BHS
Job Summary:
Belt Attendant: means Personnel provided by Contractor under this Agreement, responsible for delivering baggage tubs to various locations throughout the Facility. This person may be assigned to a ticket counter to assist with proper bag placement on the belt system:
Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for Tenant Airline baggage handling in the BHS, i.e., a soft bag needs to travel in a tub on the BHS.
- Responsible for gathering baggage tubs and delivering them to various Tenant Airline ticket counters. Used to assist both Class A Mechanics and Class B Mechanics for BHS maintenance and repairs.
- Primarily entry-level personnel that the Contractor may groom to become future Class B Mechanics, but only after the Belt Attendants have successfully completed a training program that the Contractor has developed within its human resources training program, which shall be reviewed and approved by the Manager. All such training must be documented.
- Must work a minimum of two (2) years or 4,000 hours as a Belt Attendant in a BHS, which shall include continuous Class B Mechanic training provided by the Contractor, to qualify for a Class B Mechanic position. Approval by the Manager shall be obtained before a Belt Attendant is considered for a Class B Mechanic position.
- Entering the baggage system to free baggage jams in accordance with established procedures of timelines and safety.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the immediate work area and bag room as required.
- May also check baggage into the system when received from interline or other input point of a baggage system which entails determining baggage destination and placement of a bar coded tag on the baggage.
- Ensures that baggage transport tubs are used and cleaned of previous barcoded tags.
- Gathering of baggage transport tubs from distribution points and return to input points.
- May also be required to act as a general utility/support type person on maintenance contracts, which may include parts or supplies runner.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to obtain and retain Port Authority SIDA ID and access.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (i.e., Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays, and days off.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- As may apply to any work assignment, will complete additional jobs as directed by Oxford management.
- Remain cognizant of Oxford staff, security contractors, and visitors’ activities and report, security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan to managers. Comply with Oxford and Airport site security procedures.
- Ability to drive on operational areas (DR1 Endorsement). 2 DR1 belt attendants per shift required
