Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual treatment needs.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans utilizing behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and behavioral health improvement.
- Manage crisis situations with effective crisis intervention strategies and crisis management techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, records, and notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, case management efforts, and community-based support services such as home visits or community care programs.
- Stay current with research developments in addiction medicine, behavioral health, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and other relevant clinical practices to enhance service quality.
Skills
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or mental health therapy within hospital or community settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and social work principles.
- Expertise in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and motivation for change.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10) for accurate patient classification.
- Excellent skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical records management, medical documentation standards, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology.
- Competence in conducting intake assessments, patient care planning, and data collection for ongoing treatment evaluation.
