Job Summary:
Seeking an energetic and self-motivated MA for an established allergist’s office practice. Experience in working in an allergist’s office is strongly preferred but not required. A conscientious and friendly approach to patients and staff is essential. As a MA you will be responsible for providing admirative and clinical support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office.
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
In this Medical Assistant position, the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
- Performing direct patient care, which includes various tests and procedures related to the specialty of allergic diseases and clinical immunology
- Answering calls/questions from patients, outside MDs and hospitals in a pleasant professional manner
- Stocking supplies as necessary
- Refilling medication requests
- Calling insurers regarding prior authorizations for medications
- Maintaining confidentiality of all information by following office policy and HIPAA regulations
- Working closely with the physician, staff, and practice manager
- Assisting with some administrative duties
- Ensuring that the exam rooms and clean, stocked, and presentable
- Adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
Qualifications:
- Preferred but not required: a minimum of 1-2 years of allergy/immunology experience
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Degree in medical assistance
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to relate well to patients and staff
- A high level of professionalism
We are looking for a long-term staff member who is passionate about carrying out our practice model and vision. Weekday schedule is approximately 2-3 days per week. In addition to a weekday schedule, must be available to work at least 2-3 Saturdays (half-day) per month. No less than $22/hour; final amount to be determined after interview and review of credentials and references
