We are looking for an experienced and passionate AMC 8 Math Competition Tutor to help middle school students prepare for the AMC 8 and strengthen their problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in math competitions, especially the AMC series, and should be familiar with the style, difficulty level, and strategies needed for AMC 8 success. We are especially interested in candidates who have personally participated in AMC competitions and have achieved strong results, awards, or other winning experiences in math competitions.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and guide students preparing for the AMC 8 competition
- Help students develop strong problem-solving strategies and mathematical reasoning
- Review AMC 8 topics, including algebra, geometry, number theory, counting, probability, and logic
- Create or assign practice problems based on each student’s level
- Explain solutions clearly and help students build confidence for competition-style questions
- Track student progress and provide feedback as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong background in mathematics and competition math
- Prior AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME, MathCounts, or other math competition experience preferred
- Award-winning or high-scoring math competition experience is highly preferred
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience is a plus
- Ability to explain challenging concepts in a clear and encouraging way
- Reliable, patient, and comfortable working with students
Preferred Experience:
- Math competition awards or placements at the school, regional, state, or national level
- Experience coaching students for AMC 8, MathCounts, or other competition math programs
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
