We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support financial reporting and cost management within our manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with operations, production, and leadership to monitor manufacturing costs, ensure accurate inventory valuation, and drive cost control initiatives that improve efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for plant and corporate leadership
- Analyze financial results, including labor, overhead, and production costs, to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Maintain and update standard cost systems, including bills of materials (BOMs) and routings
- Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate costing of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
- Support physical inventory and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and review journal entries related to cost accounting and inventory
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost data
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies
- Serve as a key financial partner to plant leadership, including providing insights to the EVP of Operations and department heads
- Evaluate and track capital expenditures, including ROI analysis
- Partner with operations to improve financial performance, reduce risk, and enhance efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in manufacturing or food & beverage
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Strong understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance
- Deep knowledge of cost accounting principles and variance analysis
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated, collaborative team player
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment
- Frequent interaction with the production floor in a manufacturing environment
- Exposure to varying temperatures typical of food production facilities
- Work environment may include exposure to common allergens such as nuts and fruits

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
