Join our dynamic mental health team as an AMFT - Intern Therapist, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic services to diverse populations. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills while supporting individuals and families through various mental health challenges. You will work under supervision to deliver psychotherapy, conduct assessments, and participate in treatment planning across outpatient and inpatient settings. Your energetic approach and dedication will help foster positive outcomes and promote mental well-being in our community.

This position is an internship for master's level MFT/PCC practicum students / AMFTs who already have an intern number assigned by their respective professional board. Students will gain experience and receive excellent supervision (group and/or individual/triadic). Also encouraging EMDR training.

Intern responsibilities include conducting individual, family, and group therapy, timely documentation, and attendance of weekly meetings and supervision. Students should expect to see up to approximately fifteen clients a week. Students are expected to run group sessions. Students are responsible for transportation to and from sites as needed and a working computer and webcam for telehealth sessions.

The ideal applicant will have the following skills:

1) An intern number with their respective board. Adequate knowledge of counseling theories and interventions

2) Effective and timely communication with clients and staff

3) Ability to learn new skills and techniques

4) Knowledge of when to seek supervision or consultation

5) Basic skills for suicide assessment and crisis intervention

6) Computer and basic EMR. / Charting skills

7) EMDR training is a plus, but Felicity Mental Health can facilitate it

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Master’s program for Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Social Work, Psychology or related field with eligibility for licensure as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychotherapy techniques including motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology basics, and crisis management.
  • Experience or familiarity with working with individuals in an individual and group setting
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations in outpatient or inpatient settings.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Prior telehealth experience is a plus; willingness to adapt to evolving clinical technologies is essential.   • Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately document patient conditions.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure patient safety during urgent situations.
  • Engage in case management activities including patient care coordination, medical documentation, and medical records maintenance while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Support patients with diverse needs including those with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, addiction issues, grief, and gender-related counseling.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to deliver remote therapy sessions while maintaining high standards of patient engagement and confidentiality.
  • Assist in KAP

Job Types: Part-time, Internship

Expected hours: up to 20 per week

Salary is hourly based

Pay: $60,181.89 - $72,477.12 per year
