AMI Solutions Architect

IEM is looking for a Full Time – AMI Solutions Architect, who will closely work with IT Leadership to define requirements, design solutions, and support the implementation of the AMI system.

Primary Location:

  • Live within a commutable distance to San Juan or Santurce, Puerto Rico.
  • Work in an Office Environment with a team.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require travel around Puerto Rico to complete work assignments or attend meetings.

Essential Functions:

  • Quickly learn and master utility-specific processes, particularly the "Meter to Cash" cycle, and how the AMI system integrates within it.
  • Facilitate workshops and conversations with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design and document integration standards and technology platforms, ensuring efficiency and adherence to best practices.
  • Support the development of data strategies, including data lakes, warehouses, and cloud frameworks (e.g., Azure, Databricks).
  • Proactively identify and help remove obstacles for the project team to ensure solution objectives are met.
  • Provide clear and regular communication to project leadership on status, risks, and decisions.
  • Review and provide input on testing strategies, plans, and execution to ensure quality.
  • Recommend design concepts and technologies that align with project goals and IT standards.
  • Create and maintain all necessary project documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in major storm restoration drills and activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related analytical field.
  • Experience : 5+ years of proven experience as a Solutions Architect, Technical Lead, or Systems Integrator.
  • A demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new functional domains and complex business processes.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing integration solutions using technologies like:
  • Java EE, Oracle SOA Suite, IBM MQ, or similar middleware.
  • Relational Databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
  • DevOps tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
  • Excellent facilitation skills with experience leading planning workshops and technical meetings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop strategic recommendations.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Project management fundamentals: ability to manage tasks, timelines, and risks.
  • Must be able to reside in Puerto Rico and able to work onsite at LUMA offices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with large-scale IoT (Internet of Things) or sensor network projects.
  • Knowledge of data analytics platforms and tools (e.g., Databricks, DataLake, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure concepts (networking, virtualization, security).
  • Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.

Additional Location and Travel Information:

  • Remote Work: All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed
  • Office Locations: Often, these offices are either owned by the client we work with or by IEM. All candidates are expected to follow any rules and regulations of the office in which they are required to work for that project.
