About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, External Analysis, the Analyst, Market Insights, is responsible for gathering and synthesizing data on the publishing and competitor landscape in emerging markets. You will bring external information into Wiley’s strategic thinking and support Research Publishing leaders with actionable insights. This role sits in the External Analysis group of the Business Analytics & Enablement team and is pivotal in driving Wiley’s market intelligence and strategic initiatives.

How you will make an impact:

  • Gather industry data and conduct market and competitor analysis, especially in emerging markets.
  • Track government, institutional, and funder policy changes relating to publishing.
  • Follow market data (GERD, R&D stats, researcher/PhD student numbers), and monitor local blogs and newsletters.
  • Use external systems and market reports to pull data to inform decision-making.
  • Translate external data into insights for Wiley’s strategy and drive positive external conversations and partnerships.
  • Support communication of Business Analytics & Enablement outputs, including data support for investment programs, white papers, and presentations.
  • Assist with data/analytic literacy training and create reporting for external meetings.
  • Support global teams by sharing insights, organizing intelligence-sharing sessions, and documenting external knowledge for internal use.

What we are looking for:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills with some experience in a similar role.
  • 3+ years’ experience in publishing, data/analytical, or consulting roles (5+ years and advanced education in research or publishing is desirable).
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and industry knowledge.
  • Strategic, big-picture thinker with strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Experience with data acquisition, manipulation, and synthesizing data for leaders.
  • Project planning experience and business acumen.
  • Advanced data evaluation methods, competency with market datasets, and forecasting experience are a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and act with self-awareness.

It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
