Job Summary
We’re seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our ISO-accredited cannabis testing laboratory. The successful candidate will take a lead role in operating and troubleshooting advanced instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS) and will provide technical guidance to laboratory technicians while maintaining our high quality and safety standards.
This position may occasionally require weekend or off-hour coverage as part of a rotating schedule to ensure timely client service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and HPLC systems.
  • Review analytical results for accuracy and compliance with ISO and state regulations; initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and training to laboratory technicians and assistants (no formal HR supervisory duties).
  • Ensure sample preparation, chain of custody, and data integrity meet regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Participate in a rotating schedule that may include weekend or off-hour coverage to support laboratory throughput.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain accurate records and inventories.
  • Participate in method improvements and quality initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment (ISO/IEC, NELAP, EPA, FDA, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, or ICP-MS instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic data systems.

Preferred Skills/Experience.

  • Experience in cannabis testing laboratories.
  • Demonstrated ability to train or mentor junior staff.

Working Conditions

  • Expected to wear proper PPE in accordance with SDS and SOP.
  • Exposed to moderate noise.
  • Expected to work with/near hazardous chemicals, cryogenic liquids, compressed gasses, cannabis, and cannabis-related products.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Ability to walk and bend down.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and dexterity.

Management
This position does not supervise or manage personnel.

This position reports directly to the Laboratory Manager. Day-to-day mentoring, positive and negative feedback, and performance reviews will be provided by the direct supervisor in consultation with indirect management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
