Analytics Intern

Position Summary

The Analytics Intern supports TEC Systems’ Remote Services & Analytics team in delivering fault detection & diagnostics (FDD) and building-performance analytics for large commercial buildings. Working alongside Greg Hanson, Pat Fahy, and Eric Lopez, the intern assists with deploying analytics across customer sites and with the ongoing analysis that turns building-system data into actionable findings. The role is well suited to a candidate with a strong math and science background who enjoys hands-on, data-heavy work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support analytics deployments — help set up data trends, equipment views, and data collectors across customer building sites; assist with provisioning and verifying platform access and data quality.
  • Assist with ongoing analytics analysis — review faultdetection outputs and building management system (BMS/BAS) data to help identify equipment faults, anomalies, and energysaving opportunities.
  • Perform dataheavy tasks — organize, clean, and analyze large timeseries datasets; calculate metrics; and validate data integrity, including flagging missing or “dead” points.
  • Help prepare client deliverables — build and QA recurring analytics reports and dashboards for customers.
  • Document and track work — record findings and keep tasks organized to support the team’s daytoday workflows.
  • Participate in team initiatives — join internal sessions including the AI Workshop training.

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) coursework toward a degree in engineering, mathematics, data or computer science, physics, or a related field.
  • Strong aptitude in math and science, with comfort working with data.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and a logical, detailoriented, analytical approach.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively; reliable and well organized.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred (nice to have)

  • Exposure to data tools such as Python, SQL, or BI / visualization platforms.
  • Interest in HVAC controls, building systems, energy efficiency, or sustainability.
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS/BAS) or fault detection & diagnostics (FDD) — a plus, not required.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Start date: Monday, July 6, 2026.
  • End date: Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
  • Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with Thursdays added as the week’s workload requires.
  • Compensation: $21.50 per hour.

What You’ll Gain

  • Handson experience with real commercialbuilding analytics and fault detection & diagnostics.
  • Exposure to the full analytics workflow — deployment, analysis, and client reporting.
  • Mentorship from TEC’s Remote Services & Analytics team.
