· Confirm the site, side, and type of surgery and check the site marking if applicable.
· Verifying the consent for surgery and asking for any medication allergy.
· Make sure that the patient receives prophylactic antibiotic before the patient is inducted/ anesthetized.
· Participates in doing Surgical Safety Checklist.
· Observes condition of patient during surgical procedures, including skin color, dilation of pupils, and vital signs; initiates remedial measures to prevent surgical shock or other adverse conditions as required.
· Accompanies patient to recovery area, remains until patient's immediate condition is acceptable and discharges the patient from the recovery room according to a predetermined scoring system.
· Document s anesthesia notes on patient records.
· Monitors patient condition in the recovery area and records it in the recovery room sheet, Plans post-operative pain management with the surgeons.
· Responds to patient resuscitation calls.
· Participates in the assessment and updating of drugs, medical supply and equipment needs for anesthesia department.
· Responsible for fluid and blood replacement when indicated.
· Communicates with the Surgeon, Radiologist or Physician to provide best possible patients care.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the head of the department and approved by the Medical Director.
