Overview
The Animal Care Officer is responsible for enforcing the Chapter 6 Ordinance in the City of Corpus Christi. They accomplish this through education, enforcement, and prosecution. Officers respond to various calls for service, including those regarding stray animals, aggressive animals, injured or sick animals, bite investigations, and cases of neglect or cruelty. They also handle other inquiries related to animal welfare.

· In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Qualifications
· High School Diploma / GED
· Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
· A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Required within six (6) months of hire
· Basic Animal Control Officer Certification
· Euthanasia Certification
· Bite Stick/ Chemical Capture
· Complete The Filed Training Program
Required within twelves (12) months of hire
· NACA Animal Control Officer I
Employment Testing
Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
