Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) Technician to support our clinical team by completing Medicare Annual Wellness Visits. This role focuses on identifying eligible Medicare patients and conducting the required AWV questionnaires and screenings during in-office visits. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable speaking with patients, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review daily schedules to identify patients with Medicare eligibility
- Verify whether Medicare patients have completed their Annual Wellness Visit within the current calendar year
- Conduct Annual Wellness Visit questionnaires with patients during their in-person appointments, including:
- Health risk assessments
- Medical and family history review
- Medication reconciliation
- Preventive screening questions
- Functional and safety assessments
- Accurately document all AWV information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Coordinate with providers and clinical staff to ensure AWVs are completed efficiently during patient visits
- Maintain compliance with Medicare guidelines and documentation requirements
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, answering basic questions related to the AWV process
- Ensure all required forms and questionnaires are completed prior to provider sign-off
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Prior medical office experience preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Athena, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow structured workflows
- Comfortable working directly with patients of all ages, especially seniors
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
