Overview:

Under minimum supervision, the Annuity Coordinator I performs specialized duties which require frequent exercise of independent judgment with attention to detail and a thorough understanding of applicable rules and procedures. The job duties include providing excellent customer service, interpreting reports, processing distributions and segregating benefits arising from Qualified Domestic Relations Orders. Communication with participants, staff and certain service and legal providers is required. The Annuity Coordinator I is a full-time position in the Retirement Benefits Department, with a core work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Schedule may change depending on departmental needs.

Position Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the review and response to Domestic Relations Orders (DRO) and other court orders relating to the segregation of Plan benefits.
  • Ensure alternate payee and participant segregated and distributable portions reflect stipulated provisions of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs).
  • Review and process distribution applications timely and prepare for final Manager approval with accurate payment authorization to recordkeeper.
  • Respond to inquiries from participants, beneficiaries, and union representatives relating to Plan benefits and mergers.
  • Train, guide, and coach junior staff on Plan eligibility rules and departmental procedures and policies in place.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Annuity Manager.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2-3 years employee benefits experience is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of 401(k) and 401(a) Defined Contribution fund administration preferred.
  • Experience in benefits administration systems.
  • Advanced professional designation(s) related to the qualified plan industry preferred.
  • High level of proficiency with all MS Office Suite products and ability to understand relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus (read, write, speak, translate).
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling all confidential company information
  • Detailed research, documentation, analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proficient, detail oriented, organizational and communication skills (written/verbal).
  • Ability to complete assigned projects with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgement.
  • Strong sense of ownership, self-accountability, and urgency to manage assigned projects.
  • Dedicated team player with an interest in processing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Self-motivated and driven with ability to work independently within a collaborative work environment.
  • Participates, and interacts professionally during meetings, company events, and seminars.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of management, visitors, trustees, consultants, CSAC professionals and vendors.
  • Associates degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $29.35 - $34.04 per hour
