Position Type: Full-time, hourly
Compensation: $30–$40 per hour (depending on experience).
Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Anodize Shop Manager to build, lead, and operate the anodizing department. The manager will be responsible for daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring quality and consistency, maintaining bath chemistry and safety compliance, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with other departments to meet customer and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day anodizing operations, including prep, chemical baths, finishing, cleaning, and inspection.
- Manage and supervise shop staff: assign tasks, schedule shifts, ensure staff training, enforce safety and environmental protocols.
- Maintain equipment and chemical bath integrity; monitor bath chemistry, perform routine maintenance, coordinate with maintenance or external service as needed.
- Implement and maintain quality control standards; inspect completed parts for coating quality, dimensional accuracy, finish; reject/rework as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (chemical handling, waste disposal, PPE, etc.).
- Coordinate with procurement, production planning, and quality assurance to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Keep production records: batch logs, quality reports, maintenance logs, chemical usage, throughput, reject rates, etc.
- Provide feedback and improvements to processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste/material costs, and improve quality.
Qualifications / Preferred Requirements:
- Prior experience in anodizing / metal finishing / electrochemical surface treatment
- Experience in black oxide
- NADCAP experience REQUIRED
- Supervisory or team-lead experience in manufacturing/finishing environment.
- Strong understanding of coatings, bath chemistry, finishing processes, and quality control.
- Familiarity with safety, environmental regulations, chemical handling, PPE, and waste/disposal regulations.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read work orders/blueprints and ensure parts meet specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude — able to perform or coordinate maintenance/cleaning of equipment and tanks.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or previous coatings experience strongly preferred.
