The Educational Technology Specialist supports the effective integration of technology, digital tools, and innovative instructional practices throughout Greene County Public Schools. This role provides technical support for educational technology systems while also supporting instructional staff through professional development, digital learning resources, and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.
The specialist collaborates with teachers, administrators, and the Technology Department to ensure technology enhances teaching, learning, communication, and operational efficiency. This position also supports the creation of digital resources and communication materials that promote innovative teaching practices and highlight technology initiatives across the division.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and other technology hardware
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for staff and student devices across all schools
- Support student and staff use of digital tools, software applications, and instructional technology platforms
- Assist with device imaging, deployment, and replacement cycles
- Support audiovisual systems including projectors, interactive displays, and conferencing equipment
- Assist with user account management in systems such as Google Workspace, device management platforms, and other educational systems
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, procedures, and solutions in the technology helpdesk system
- Maintain inventory of technology equipment including asset tagging and tracking
- Travel between school sites in Greene County as needed
- Support teachers in the effective integration of digital tools into classroom instruction
- Assist in identifying and implementing innovative instructional technologies that enhance student learning
- Support division initiatives related to digital learning, blended learning, and innovative instructional practices
- Provide coaching and consultation to teachers on technology-enhanced instructional strategies
- Assist with evaluation and pilot testing of new educational technology tools
- Support division initiatives related to responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence in education
- Assist staff with understanding and implementing AI tools in alignment with division guidelines
- Develop resources and examples demonstrating effective use of AI tools for instruction and productivity
- Support ongoing evaluation of emerging technologies that may enhance teaching and learning
- Assist in planning and delivering professional development related to educational technology tools and innovative instructional practices
- Develop training resources such as instructional guides, videos, and digital learning modules
- Provide small group and one-on-one support to staff implementing new technology tools
- Support division professional learning events and technology training sessions
Collaborate with the Technology Department to ensure compliance with cybersecurity protocols and best practices
- Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive student and staff data
- Support division technology initiatives and projects as assigned
- Assist in developing technology-related communication materials including:
- Social media graphics
- flyers and informational materials
- one-page guides
- technology newsletters
- professional development resources
- Support the creation of digital content highlighting innovative classroom practices
- Assist with the development of technology documentation and support materials for staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology & Innovation
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in technology support, instructional technology, or related field
- Experience working in a K–12 educational environment preferred
- Experience supporting instructional technology or digital learning initiatives is highly desirable
- Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS operating systems
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and common educational technology tools
- Basic networking knowledge including wireless connectivity and device management
- Familiarity with device management systems and educational technology platforms
- Understanding of digital learning practices and instructional technology integration
- Familiarity with emerging technologies including artificial intelligence tools for education
- Ability to develop training materials and deliver professional development to staff
- Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or collaboratively
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks related to technology setup
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications
- Google Certified Educator
ISTE Certification or equivalent instructional technology credential
Terms of Contract
- 2 Month - 250 Days - 8.5 Hours per Day
- Reports to the Director of Technology & Innovation
- Salary commensurate with experience
