Long-Term Substitute TESOL Teacher opening.
General Scope of Responsibility
The Long-Term Substitute TESOL Teacher is responsible for educating students and supporting teaching and instruction through coaching, professional development, and reporting.
Relationship Within the Organization
The Long-Term Substitute TESOL Teacher is responsible to the principal(s) and the Director of the Program.
Specific Responsibilities:- Teach ELL students through planning and individualizing instruction to meet student needs.
- Collect and provide data regarding student achievement and inform students of the basis of assessment.
- Partner with teachers/instructors to support effective instruction for English Language Learners.
- Communicate with parents and the greater community about learner needs and successes.
- Assist in the completion of state mandated documentation.
- Meet professional responsibilities listed in the Connecticut Teacher Competencies.
- Promote self-awareness, self-respect, appropriate behavior and responsibility.
- Maintain professional attitude in working with others.
- Effectively manage student behavior.
- Participate in and contribute to school programs, projects and professional activities.
- Follow guidelines with regard to recordkeeping, documentation, and reporting.
- Model appropriate social skills and behavior.
- Foster self-worth and independence in students.
- Assign duties and monitor teacher assistants and other persons assigned to the classroom.
- Support program and agency goals.
- Perform other duties associated with the position as directed by administration.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
- CT Certification 111-Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) PK-12 OR Early Childhood Certificate required.
