Anticipated Technology Technician position available within the Northampton Area School District.
TITLE: Technology Technician
CATEGORY: I Group A
REPORTS TO: Network Support Lead
JOB SUMMARY: Provides technical support to staff and students across the district, ensuring reliable operation of devices, peripherals, and classroom technology. This position is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining equipment, and supporting classroom technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Possesses an Associate's Degree from an accredited technical college or equivalent post-high school training and/or work experience preferred

Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility, Criminal History Record, Pre-Employment Drug Testing, and Physical Examination/TB Test Standard

Possesses proficiency in the English language, with strong oral and written communication skills
-
Possesses the ability to deal courteously and tactfully with staff, students, parents, and the community

Possesses the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Possesses thorough knowledge of the configuration, operation, maintenance, and repair of personal computers such as Windows PCs, Apple Macintosh, Chrome OS, and/or Unix/Linux workstations

Demonstrates experience in the maintenance and repair of microcomputers and related equipment

Possesses the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds for a distance of at least 200 feet

Possesses thorough knowledge of modern operating systems

Prior experience with technology in an educational setting is desirable

Demonstrates proficiency with common productivity applications such as MS Office and Google applications (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, etc.)

Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize support requests and assigned tasks

Possesses a valid Driver's License
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Diagnose computer and peripheral equipment problems and perform repairs to the component level

Prepares and deploys district equipment, which may include unpacking, configuring, testing, and moving equipment to the assigned location

Logs all installation and maintenance performed on PC systems and related peripherals into departmental inventory databases and/or work ticket systems. Data entry into District databases is required

Installs, configures, tests, and debugs system and user software
-
Assists with the maintenance and repair of LAN and WAN system components as assigned
-
Assists with the maintenance and repair of audiovisual system components as assigned
-
Acts as a liaison for the district with PC repair, parts, and supply vendors where appropriate

Assists with maintaining accurate inventory and accounting for computers, printers, audio-visual systems, and related components
-
Assists students and staff end users with basic computer use, care, and handling instructions

Completes forms and/or verifies form data in support of District technology initiatives
-
Assists the administration in identifying obsolete hardware, evaluating its conditions, location, and usefulness
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Answers Help Desk calls from end users, interprets the problem, and logs the calls

Assists with data back-up, recovery, and other network management tasks as may be assigned by the Senior Network Analyst and/or Network Support Lead

Attends seminars, classes, training, and /or participates in organizations that promote professional development directly related to the job requirements

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as from time to time may be assigned by the Technology Services administrative staff

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Seven and one-half (7.5) Hours per Day 260 Days per year; Hourly Rate of Pay and Benefits per the ESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
