Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable AP Chemistry Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching advanced chemistry concepts and fostering a stimulating learning environment for high school students preparing for college-level coursework. Duties
- Deliver engaging lessons on AP Chemistry topics, including organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and microbiology.
- Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with AP standards and educational best practices.
- Design and administer assessments, including standardized testing preparation, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
- Incorporate learning technology and instructional design strategies to enhance classroom engagement and comprehension.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment conducive to inquiry and discovery.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to support student success in science courses and college readiness.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, dissection activities, and research projects to reinforce theoretical concepts with practical application.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and school-wide educational programs.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation for reporting purposes.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to science education, classroom management, and instructional techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience teaching AP Chemistry at the high school level or higher education setting.
- Strong knowledge of chemistry disciplines including organic chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, differential equations, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, discrete math, and science research methods.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional design.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and implementing special education strategies if applicable.
- Proficiency with learning technology tools and laboratory equipment; laboratory experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for effective instruction, student mentoring, parent engagement, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Ability to prepare students for standardized testing and provide tutoring or additional academic support as needed.
