AP Chemistry Tutor (Part-Time) – Archimedes School (Redmond, WA)

We are a tutoring center based in Redmond, WA, specializing in personalized 1-on-1 instruction. We are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic AP Chemistry Tutor to join our team. While most sessions are 1-on-1, there are opportunities to teach small group classes and summer programs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a tutor who can guide high school students through college-level AP Chemistry concepts and help them succeed on the AP exam. This role goes beyond basic tutoring—you will help students develop strong problem-solving skills, scientific reasoning, and confidence in tackling complex material.

What You’ll Teach

AP Chemistry topics include (but are not limited to):

• Atomic Structure & Periodic Trends
• Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure
• Chemical Reactions & Stoichiometry
• Thermochemistry & Kinetics
• Equilibrium
• Acids & Bases
• Thermodynamics & Electrochemistry

You will also help students:

• Interpret data and graphs
• Solve multi-step quantitative problems
• Prepare for AP-style multiple-choice and free-response questions
• Build strong test-taking strategies

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized 1-on-1 tutoring sessions
• Break down complex chemistry concepts into clear, understandable steps
• Support students with homework, labs, and AP exam preparation
• Adapt lesson plans based on each student’s needs and progress
• Track student performance and provide feedback
• (Optional) Teach small group classes or summer programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• 1–2+ years of tutoring or teaching experience (AP-level preferred)
• Strong understanding of AP Chemistry curriculum and exam structure
• Ability to teach both conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and student engagement skills

Preferred:

• Experience teaching AP Chemistry
• Strong familiarity with AP exam format and expectations
• Teaching credential or classroom experience
