Fully Remote • Work from Anywhere in the U.S.

You: You’re early in your accounting or finance career and eager to build strong fundamentals. You take real pride in accuracy, organization, and follow‑through. You feel accomplished when things balance, payments go out on time, and records are clean. You’re comfortable with routine, structured work and understand that consistency is a virtue in finance. You’re not expected to know everything yet—but you are curious, careful, and willing to ask questions when something doesn’t look right.

You communicate clearly and professionally, with strong interpersonal skills that help you work effectively with teammates, vendors, and colleagues across the organization. You’re comfortable fielding routine finance questions and helping explain processes or policies in a clear, approachable way. You work well independently, but you appreciate being part of a supportive team that’s invested in helping you learn and grow. At PLF, your work ensures that our mission to defend liberty is backed by operational excellence and sound stewardship.

Them: Bureaucrats, city councils, mayors, governors, and federal agencies stripping Americans of their rights every day. There’s a lot of government overreach out there, and it’s backed by seemingly endless resources. But fortunately, like all lumbering giants, abusive government is most vulnerable when countered by individuals who act strategically and nimbly, take calculated risks, have each other’s backs, and are confident in and passionate for the cause—the very sort of swashbucklers we employ in spades here at PLF.

Us: We fight back. Pacific Legal Foundation is the nation’s first and most successful public interest law firm dedicated to vindicating individual liberty. PLF has an unmatched record in the U.S. Supreme Court, with 18 victories out of 20 cases heard by the Court. We also have nearly two hundred active cases across the nation.

We are a next-generation public interest law firm. What does “next generation” mean for a legal nonprofit? It means we aren’t interested in doing the same thing as everyone else. We aspire to be the best player in a constantly changing game.

Here’s what you get to do in this role:

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you’ll be an important part of PLF’s Finance team, helping ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time and that our financial records are complete and reliable.

You’ll handle incoming invoices, enter them into our accounting system, and work with the Finance team to resolve discrepancies when something doesn’t match or requires clarification. You’ll help prepare payments and assist with record‑keeping and reconciliations that support month‑end close.

This role is designed for someone early in their career who wants hands‑on experience in accounting operations at a mission‑driven organization.

Getting down to brass tacks, in this role you will:

  • Enter and process vendor invoices accurately and promptly
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and issue payments via check, ACH, or other approved methods
  • Help reconcile vendor statements and identify discrepancies
  • Review personal and corporate expense reports, ensuring proper substantiation
  • Maintain organized digital records and documentation
  • Respond professionally to routine vendor and internal inquiries
  • Generate basic reports or schedules for the Finance team
  • Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls

This role is ideal for someone with:

  • 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting support, or a related role
  • Comfort learning new systems and working with spreadsheets
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • A dependable, organized approach and the ability to manage recurring tasks and deadlines
  • An interest in growing accounting skills within a supportive Finance team
  • Experience with Sage Intact, BILL.com, or Expensify is a plus, but not required

This role can be done fully remotely, though a slight preference will be given to candidates who can work from our Arlington, Virginia office.

We have a flexible, collaborative, positive, and collegial work environment. We take pride in investing in your future and encourage internal advancement. PLF is the place for someone principled, tenacious, and determined to succeed in positively shaping the future of our country and restoring real limits on government power.
