A&P Flight Mechanic

Job Summary:

Serve as the primary mechanic for assigned aircraft, both in flight and on the ground. Oversee and perform daily maintenance, receive incoming aircraft, review flight and maintenance logs, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions in compliance with FARs and company procedures, while maintaining effective communication with Maintenance Control, Flight Control, and other relevant personnel.

Schedule: 21 on and 7 off

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure aircraft airworthiness and regulatory compliance in accordance with FARs and company manuals by identifying, reporting, and correcting discrepancies prior to flight.
  • Perform aircraft maintenance and inspections, ensuring proper use of approved manuals, tools, forms, and records, and directing non-certificated mechanics as needed.
  • Maintain calibration and serviceability of all precision tools, test equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Assume responsibility for all completed work through proper documentation and sign-off, and ensure all maintenance documentation, forms, logs, discrepancy reports, parts tags, and corrective actions are submitted in a timely manner to the Records Department in accordance with company procedures.
  • Receive, store, and verify serviceability of parts, materials, and equipment when inspection personnel are unavailable; ensure compliance with FARs and company standards. Properly identify, tag, and promptly return repairable and unserviceable parts to the Parts Department.
  • Maintain inventory control of aircraft parts and Fly Away Kits, ensuring proper stock levels and reporting results as required.
  • Review flight logs upon arrival, identify and communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel, and coordinate corrective actions as applicable, notifying Maintenance Control if AOG support as required.
  • Ensure aircraft readiness and safety prior to departure and during operations, including cleanliness and FOD prevention, and secure aircraft during unattended overnight stops when delegated by the PIC, in accordance with company procedures.
  • Submit required operational reports, including weekly tire and brake reports as required.
  • Maintain compliance with the General Maintenance Manual and remain current on all required training.
  • Assist with aircraft loading and perform Maintenance Representative duties at MRO facilities as needed.

Qualificiations:

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Valid U.S. Passport to legally enter Mexico, the Caribbean, and Canada is required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate is required.
  • Must be able to pass an Airport Background Criminal History Check.
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Test and Airport Background criminal history check.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a drug-free workplace and comply with company drug and alcohol policies.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as required by operational needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, Part 121 maintenance requirements, and airworthiness standards.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years proven line maintenance experience. DC-9/MD-80 aircraft or similar type aircraft is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is preferred.
  • Able to collaborate with team as well as work independently without supervision is required.
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing technicians and leadership to ensure regulatory adherence are required.
