Responsibilities
- Works under management of and reported to site Superintendent in Directorate of Aircraft Maintenance in the Base.
- Performs Repair, Maintenance, Servicing Aircraft and Related Support Equipment.
- Uses layout diagrams, blueprints and applicable technical orders to diagnose and solve maintenance problems of hydraulic, electrical, power plant, auxiliary power unit, environmental systems, oxygen, fuel, landing gear, flight controls and other related Aircraft systems to include tire retreading criteria.
- Determines repair and inspection procedures to correct defective equipment.
- Diagnoses repeat/recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective actions.
- Initiates material deficiency reports and proposes modifications.
- Interprets and advises on maintenance procedures and policies for repair of Aircraft and related equipment.
- Determines maintenance requirements such as parts, tolerances, fuel leaks, corrosion, tire wear, skin damage, cracks, and performance of Aircraft systems. Uses wiring diagrams, blueprints and applicable technical orders to diagnose and solve maintenance problems to achieve proper operating efficiency of components such as rotor heads, landing gears, engines, general inspection for instrumentation, rotor blades, transmissions (including controls and rigging) and hydraulic, general inspection for basic electrical, heating, fuel, lubricating and cooling induction and exhaust systems.
- Diagnoses malfunctions on fuel systems such as integrally sealed tanks and external tanks.
- Resolves maintenance problems using analytical techniques for troubleshooting.
- Determines repair and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Establishes new maintenance and operating procedures and recommends improvements to facilitate full utilization of personnel and equipment.
- Inspects Aircraft, Components, Systems and Related Equipment.
- Performs Aircraft inspections.
- Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective action.
- Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation and operation.
- Inspects and operates powered and non-powered ground equipment, maintenance stands, jacks, towing units and related maintenance support equipment.
- Inventories and inspects Aircraft in accordance with applicable technical order procedures.
- Inspects and identifies Aircraft corrosion.
- Reviews maintenance forms, Aircraft records and reports to ensure complete documentation.
- Troubleshoots, Repairs, Services, Cleans Aircraft Components and Systems and Related Equipment.
- Troubleshoots malfunctions pertaining to Aircraft such as structures, landing gears, flight surfaces, flight control, anti-icing, power plant, auxiliary power unit, environmental, fuels and electrical systems.
- Conducts detailed test of repaired components, using mock-ups and related test equipment.
- Adjusts, aligns and calibrates Aircraft systems and components to achieve maximum operating efficiency consistent with design characteristics.
- Assists in weight and balance functions according to published procedures and directives.
- Positions (jacking and towing) Aircraft to facilitate maintenance.
- Services Aircraft systems such as gases and liquids.
- Ensures timely sampling of Aircraft engine oil and fuel according to the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP).
- Reconfigures Aircraft according to directives.
- Performs Maintenance Staff Functions.
- Coordinates and adjusts individual and unit daily maintenance plans to meet operational commitments for assigned Aircraft.
- Assigns personnel in the launch and the recovery of Aircraft.
- Ensures compliance with applicable requirements of the maintenance management system.
- Review maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends, production effectiveness and areas requiring management action.
- Performs staff and supervisory management functions on the maintenance department staff in activities such as maintenance control and quality control.
- Supervises Aircraft Maintenance Personnel.
- Plans and schedules work methods, production controls and performance standards.
- Ensures maintenance equipment, tools, parts and test equipment are available.
- Assigns maintenance and repair functions to subordinates.
- Evaluates subordinates performance in compliance with policies, preventive maintenance directives and technical orders.
- Instructs subordinates in maintenance techniques.
- Reviews training status to determine level of qualification of assigned personnel.
- Orients newly assigned personnel and assigns individuals to unit positions.
- Knowledge of basic electrical, hydraulic and mechanical principles as applied to Aircraft; concepts and application of Technical Orders and supporting publications; applicable maintenance directives; maintenance data reporting; using blueprints, diagrams, schematics and technical publications; and the proper handling, use and disposal of hazardous wastes and material is mandatory. Knowledge of Aircraft maintenance supply procedure is desirable.
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical principles that apply to maintenance and repair of the rotary Wing Aircraft.
- Interpret of Aircraft internal hardware such as interconnects, lines, valves, gauges, controls, pumps, sealing materials, sheet metal parts.
- Knowledge about properties of rubber and application of organic sealing compounds; interpretation of wiring diagrams, blueprints; use of layout drawings; technical publications; concepts and application series and supporting publication; and work policies and procedures is mandatory.
- Supervises Aircraft Maintenance Personnel.
- Perform all Scheduled and Un-scheduled maintenance per applicable OEM publications on Aircraft.
- Determines maintenance requirements such as parts, clearances, tolerance, fuel leaks, and corrosion damage.
- Interpretation of wiring diagrams, blueprints and technical publication are mandatory.
- Determines repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipment.
- Participate in flight line and ground handling duties.
- Conducts on-the-job training as a trainer. The Aircraft Mechanics technicians are in charge of training the personnel on operating Aircraft through scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to qualify the personnel on Aircraft. The Ratio of Trainer to Trainees is (1:3) as maximum.
Qualifications
Knowledge of basic electrical, hydraulic and mechanical principles as applied to Aircraft; concepts and application of Technical Orders and supporting publications; applicable maintenance directives; maintenance data reporting; using blueprints, diagrams, schematics and technical publications; and the proper handling, use and disposal of hazardous wastes and material is mandatory. Knowledge of Aircraft maintenance supply procedure is desirable. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical principles that apply to maintenance and repair of the rotary Wing Aircraft. Interpretation of wiring diagrams, blueprints and technical publications are mandatory. Familiarity with maintenance procedures, safety requirements, and documentation standards is expected.
