AP Physics C Tutor

Job Description

Simplifi EDU is seeking experienced AP Physics C educators to work 1:1 with high school students in calculus-based physics, specifically AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism.

This role is designed for current or former AP Physics C high school classroom teachers. We are looking for someone who has taught this curriculum hundreds of times to AP students and knows it like the back of their hand. If you’ve helped students consistently earn 3s, 4s, and 5s on the AP Physics C exams, then this role is for you.

You’ll have the opportunity to work 1:1 with motivated high school students, guiding them through the most rigorous physics coursework available at the pre-college level. At Simplifi EDU, we aim to provide more than just help with homework or an upcoming quiz or test. We aim to meet students where they are and come alongside them in learning the skill of solving difficult problems.

We believe tutors have an important role to play in helping students build resilience, determination, and flexible thinking skills: the traits that will actually carry students through a college-level STEM career. If you take pride in creating that kind of experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Who We’re Looking For

We are currently seeking Online AP Physics C Tutors with prior AP Physics C classroom teaching experience at the high school level (not university), or extensive experience preparing students specifically for the AP Physics C: Mechanics and/or AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism exams.

Candidates without classroom teaching experience must demonstrate a track record equivalent in scale, approximately 100 students prepared for the AP Physics C exam, or 200–300 hours of targeted AP Physics C exam prep.

Candidates who lead or have led a robotics club or similar hands-on STEM program are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Scheduling & Attendance: Maintain a consistent weekly lesson schedule with students (1–1.5 hours per lesson).
  • Parent Communication: Clearly communicate student progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement between sessions.
  • Lesson Documentation: Provide thorough session reports documenting what was covered and the steps being taken to move the student forward.

Desired Availability

Candidates should be available for at least 8 lesson hours per week:

  • At least 3 weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Pacific Time.
  • Available to tutor at least one day on the weekends.

Qualifications

  • AP Physics C classroom teaching experience at the high school level (strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated AP exam pass rate of 90% or higher (students scoring 3, 4, or 5 on Mechanics or E&M).
  • 3+ years of teaching or tutoring experience specifically in AP Physics C.
  • Deep fluency in calculus-based mechanics and electromagnetism, curriculum knowledge that goes deep and is hard-won.
  • Ability to explain complex physics concepts clearly and meet students where they are.
  • Experience motivating students through demanding material.
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
  • Experience working with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, or processing challenges (preferred).
  • A copy of your college transcript will be required prior to hiring. If unavailable, a copy of your college diploma is acceptable.

  • Do you have AP Physics C classroom teaching experience at the high school level? If yes, how many years?
  • Do you lead, or have you led, a robotics club or similar hands-on STEM program?
  • On a scale from 0 to 100, how confident are you in your ability to successfully teach students with diagnosed learning differences (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, processing disorders)?
