APIGEE Architect

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Apigee Architect with a strong background in Apigee Hybrid installation, development, troubleshooting, monetization, and CI/CD automation. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade API solutions using Google Apigee Edge/Hybrid/X and work closely with cross-functional teams to drive API strategy, governance, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

· Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance API solutions using Google Apigee.

· Define and enforce API standards, policies, and best practices across the enterprise.

· Provide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams on Apigee and API lifecycle management.

· Collaborate with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, and developers to understand API requirements and deliver effective solutions.

· Integrate APIs with various backend systems (REST/SOAP services, databases, IAM systems, etc.).

· Implement OAuth 2.0, JWT, API key security models, traffic management policies, and threat protection in Apigee.

· Drive CI/CD pipeline integration and automation for API deployments.

· Monitor and optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of API gateways and related services.

· Stay up to date on emerging technologies in API management and drive innovation.

Required Skills & Experience:

· 10+ years of total IT experience with a strong focus on API design, development, and management.

· Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Apigee (Edge, Hybrid, or X).

· Strong understanding of API Gateway patterns, API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, etc.), and traffic management.

· Proficient in JavaScript, Python, or Java for implementing API policies and custom logic.

· Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

· Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, etc.) and CI/CD practices for API deployment.

· Experience integrating Apigee with IAM, SSO, and other enterprise platforms.

· Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure.

· Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

· Candidate must understand the SOA concepts and have an experience with any of the integration technologies like TIBCO BW, IBM IIB , etc.

· Strong hands-on experience in:

o Apigee API proxy development using policies, JavaScript, and shared flows.

o Strong knowledge in working with Web services and API technologies, REST application & Micro service

o -Understanding HTTP and HTTPS protocols and basic knowledge on HTTP headers, request/response, XML/JSON data structure, SOAP/REST services

o -Experience with XPath, RegEx, HTTP status codes, GET/POST methods, CRUD operations .

o Apigee Hybrid installation and infrastructure setup.

o Developer Portal customization and integration.

o Apigee Monetization module and analytics.
