Application Performance Analyst

Role Summary

The Application Performance Analyst is responsible for deep-dive performance analysis, code-level tuning, and system optimization across enterprise mainframe environments. This role focuses on identifying root causes of performance degradation, improving CPU efficiency, and ensuring optimal runtime performance in large-scale, multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex environments. The position requires strong technical expertise in performance tools, mainframe technologies, and modern programming languages, along with 24x7 production support capability.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerformance Forensics & Optimization

  • Conduct deep-dive performance analysis using Strobe, DB2 Visualizer, and exception reporting tools.
  • Isolate code-level drivers of performance degradation.
  • Optimize SQL statements and DB2 processing to improve CPU utilization and runtime efficiency.
  • Perform application code reviews and provide actionable tuning recommendations.
  • Analyze daily exception reports and proactively address anomalies.

Mainframe & Batch Processing Support

  • Demonstrate proficiency with TSO and ISPF.
  • Utilize strong knowledge of z/OS and JCL.
  • Modify and optimize batch job streams.
  • Support large-scale, multi-processor, multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex environments.

Development & Technical Expertise

  • Apply coding skills in COBOL, Java, Python, Go, JCL, and REXX.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept (POC) and proof-of-technology initiatives.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance performance analysis, automate diagnostics, and improve productivity.

Operational Support & Leadership

  • Provide 7x24x365 technical support for application performance improvements.
  • Assist in war-room sessions during critical production incidents.
  • Mentor junior performance analysts and share technical best practices.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the APM team.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in application performance tuning.
  • Proven expertise in large, complex mainframe environments (multi-processor, multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex).
  • Strong SQL and DB2 performance tuning knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of mainframe architecture and batch processing.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹466,684.87 - ₹1,424,449.33 per year
