Application Support Engineer PCB/Data Management

Position Overview:

Join the Siemens EDA Global Support team as an Application Support Engineer for the Xpedition Enterprise tools suite, with a focus on Electronic Data Management (EDM) and data management. You'll work directly with internal and external customers to resolve tool issues, partner with account teams to educate users and grow product usage, and create knowledge content for our web-based support portal. This is an opportunity to make a real impact by helping customers achieve their project deadlines and drive product improvements through direct customer feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively help customers quickly become productive with Xpedition EDM Design, EDM Library, and EDM Server
  • Provide support via phone, electronic means, or on-site to help customers achieve project deadlines
  • Engage with existing customers to understand and provide guidance for the implementation and maintenance of the Xpedition EDM Server and related design flow tools
  • Assist account teams with struggling customers to overcome challenges and ensure successful outcomes
  • Interface with customers and Electronic Board Systems engineering, providing feedback in both directions to drive continuous improvement
  • Regularly participate in meetings and conference calls with customers, both internal and external
  • Work as part of the account team to develop solutions for customer issues and actively communicate these solutions to the customer
  • Capture knowledge for web-based support systems in the form of articles, white papers, and videos
  • Provide proactive customer feedback to product marketing and engineering to drive improvement and the future evolution of the product line
  • Provide first-line support for all tools in the Xpedition tool suite, document software defects in our bug-tracking database, and work closely with customers to log software enhancement requests

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in the PCB design process, from schematic entry to layout and manufacturing
  • Experience with the administration of PCB design tools such as Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, Altium, or similar
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently yet collaboratively, and to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving technical environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and customer issues concurrently
  • Strong project management and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English

Preferred:

  • Detailed knowledge of ECAD library development and design data management; Siemens Xpedition Enterprise EDM preferred
  • System administration experience, including broad knowledge of basic networking technology, LDAP/Active Directory, SSL, Kerberos, performance monitoring, virtualization, and low-level application troubleshooting
  • Experience with FlexLM Licensing and scripting (Linux shell, Windows batch file, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Experience working with Oracle- or PostgreSQL-based data systems
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, VBScript, and C#
  • Prior customer-facing experience
  • Willingness to travel to internal meetings and customer sites

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $17,700 to $35,400 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
