Position Summary

The Application Systems Analyst (ASA) is responsible for providing technical and functional support for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. An ASA ensures optimal performance and utilization of the system and possesses a deep understanding of EHR utilization and health center operations. This role involves collaborating with end-users, leadership, OCHIN analysts, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to identify, assess, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to the use and function of the EHR system. The ASA contributes to the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the EHR system, participating in training initiatives, creating and updating end-user documentation, and performing testing for system upgrades. Additionally, the ASA is responsible for completing and maintaining technical build within the EHR system, ensuring seamless integration, use, and performance. Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical skills, along with the ability to manage complex demands from end-users and align with organizational strategic goals, are essential for success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and functional support within the Epic EHR system, addressing user inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and resolving problems to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date end-user documentation and training materials, ensuring that users have access to accurate information and resources to effectively utilize the Epic system.
  • Collaborate effectively with project stakeholders, OCHIN analysts, and colleagues to identify and resolve issues related to the Epic system.
  • Create and maintain technical build within the Epic system including but not limited to provider and end user record build, SmartTool creation, and Preference List management.
  • Ensure utilization and performance of SmartTools to streamline and standardize clinical documentation while aligning with organizational needs.
  • Participate in training initiatives, delivering instruction to end-users on Epic system features, functionality, and best practices, fostering user competence and confidence.
  • Work in partnership with the organization's leadership and stakeholders to align EHR support efforts with organizational strategic goals, contributing to the overall success and growth of the health center.
  • Manage complex demands from end-users and prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely resolution of issues and efficient utilization of resources.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership, end-users, and external vendors to facilitate effective communication, identify areas for improvement, and develop optimized solutions for the EHR system.
  • Oversee the execution of user acceptance testing (UAT) of updated to the EHR system by leveraging the expertise of SMEs to assist in testing as well as effectively disseminating and incorporating changes into training materials and user documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum five years experience in similar role, ideally with a health care facility/provider supporting underserved communities.
  • 10 years of Health IT experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC clinical and project management certifications.
  • Strong understanding of health center operations.
  • Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
  • Experience with EHR software, specifically EPIC
