Apprentice Plumber heating and gas engineer

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Apprentice Plumber to join our team. This entry-level position offers valuable hands-on experience in plumbing and related trades, providing a solid foundation for a future career in the plumbing industry. The role involves assisting experienced plumbers with various tasks on-site, gaining practical skills, and developing mechanical knowledge. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, reliable, and physically capable of handling demanding tasks in diverse environments.

Duties

  • Assist senior plumbers with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely
  • Measure and cut pipes accurately using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Support with the assembly of plumbing components and fixtures
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks related to plumbing installations
  • Handle heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely to ensure smooth workflow
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area to promote safety and efficiency on-site
  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times during operations
  • Participate in training sessions to develop skills such as welding, mechanical knowledge, and the use of specialised tools
  • Assist with general site maintenance and other duties as directed by supervising staff

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of plumbing principles or relevant experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and basic assembly equipment safely
  • Mechanical aptitude with an interest in developing specialised skills such as welding or carpentry
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail for precise measurements and installations
  • Physical fitness capable of heavy lifting and working in confined or elevated spaces
  • Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations involved in plumbing tasks
  • Valid driving licence for commercial driving is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary licences during training period
  • Reliable, punctual, with a strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude
