Apprentice/helper for our lead journeyman

Wage: $18 - $22 per hour to start (depending on experience). Will go up as skill set gets better and better.

Company: We are a small company consisting of myself (the owner) and (1) lead journeyman. We are looking to round out the team with a hardworking, dedicated, eager, person who is willing to learn and who has good attitude. You must be friendly, able to work around clients and tenants, able to work odd hours and weekends as needed ( Typically M - F)

We've been in business since 1997. Myself and my lead have been working together for 16 years. Our prior 'third man' had been with us for 8+ years until he decided to venture out. We are now looking for another longtime person to fill the void.

Candidate: A friendly, hardworking person who catches on quick would be willing to try a wide range of maintenance and construction type tasks. We work for property managers, home owners, realtors, etc and do a lot of general Handyman type repairs. We may build a deck one day, a fence the next and finish the week out by painting the walls, trim and ceilings in a downtown Portland apartment. Because of our wide scope of tasks, the applicant must be able to pack lumber when needed, dig holes, climb ladders, clean gutters, walk roof’s (no more than 2 stories usually), hang siding on occasion, etc… General repair tasks. Some days are all in door work installing base molding, pre-hung doors, caulking, etc. Some days may consist of looking at prospective jobs and taking notes and pictures, then going to install a few smoke detectors at some apartment units. Every day is a mixed bag. So, if you like a wide variety of work tasks, this may be the job for you.
