Apprenticeship Coach – Construction
Reports to: Apprenticeship Manager
Purpose of Role
The Apprenticeship Coach (Construction) supports apprentices working towards
construction-related apprenticeship standards. The role ensures apprentices develop the technical
skills, health and safety awareness, and professional behaviours required for successful completion
of their programme and future progression within the construction industry. Coaches also contribute
to the design and ongoing development of performance measures (KPIs) to continuously improve
learner outcomes and programme delivery.
The Coach works in close collaboration with the Tutor, who has the professional competence to
deliver and assess the technical skills required in the apprenticeship standards, ensuring that
coaching and technical teaching are fully integrated.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Support & Coaching
- Provide one-to-one and group coaching sessions for apprentices in construction disciplines
(e.g., bricklaying, carpentry, site management).
- Support apprentices in developing knowledge, behaviours, and workplace readiness alongside
technical skills.
- Encourage safe working practices and compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Adapt coaching to meet individual learner needs, including additional learning support.
Programme Delivery & Progress Monitoring
- Work alongside the Tutor to ensure delivery of the full apprenticeship standard, integrating
technical skills with coaching support.
- Support apprentices in gathering site-based evidence and developing portfolios.
- Monitor progress against milestones, ensuring apprentices remain on track.
- Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA), including practical and technical
assessments.
Employer & Site Engagement
- Liaise with site managers and supervisors to align workplace learning with apprenticeship
requirements.
- Ensure off-the-job training hours are recorded and meet funding compliance.
- Conduct site visits to observe apprentices’ practical work and verify competence.
- Provide employers with progress reports and feedback on learner development.
Compliance & Quality
- Maintain accurate learner records in accordance with ESFA and Ofsted requirements.
- Promote safeguarding, Prevent Duty, and equality & diversity in all activities.
- Uphold industry compliance with CSCS standards, CITB frameworks, and health & safety
regulations.
Performance & KPI Development
- Meet agreed performance measures including learner retention, timely completions, and
learner/employer satisfaction.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of KPIs that track programme quality, learner
progress, and employer engagement.
- Analyse learner data and outcomes to recommend improvements in programme delivery.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a learner-centred approach.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
- Ability to engage confidently with apprentices, tutors, and site supervisors.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills, including use of e-portfolio and online learning platforms.
- Commitment to health, safety, and sustainability in construction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Assessing or coaching qualification (e.g., CAVA, A1, TAQA, Level 3 Coaching, or equivalent).
- Trade or technical qualification in a construction discipline (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or higher).
- Experience working in the construction industry (essential).
- Knowledge of construction apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessment.
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain) – desirable.
- Experience in delivering training, coaching, or mentoring in a construction setting.
KPI Framework (Example Targets)
- Learner Retention: Minimum 90% retention of apprentices throughout the programme.
- Timely Achievement: At least 85% of apprentices complete their apprenticeship on time.
- End Point Assessment (EPA) Success: Minimum 90% pass rate, with at least 50% achieving
Merit or Distinction.
- Learner Satisfaction: 90%+ positive feedback in learner surveys.
- Employer Satisfaction: 90%+ positive feedback in employer surveys.
- Compliance Accuracy: 100% of learner records up to date and audit-ready.
- Engagement: 100% of learners receive monthly progress reviews logged on the system.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED7,500.00 per month
