JOB DESCRIPTION
APQP Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The APQP Specialist’s activities extend to most SRK-OH Departments as well as to most of our customers and suppliers. The Specialist coordinates the New Model activities to insure conformance to SRK-OH’s schedules and requirements. The Specialist routes and follows-up on issues with the proper department to gain a quick, accurate, and reasonable resolution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Travel extensively both domestic and international, sometimes on short notice
  • Establish and maintain master program schedules to match overall customer schedules
  • Provide suppliers with schedule and quality requirements for new programs to match overall customer schedules
  • Follow-up with suppliers on status of tooling, capacity, and overall programs
  • Review past problems and assist with developing strong Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Work with Engineering to order appropriate tooling to meet new part requirements
  • Procurement/assist suppliers in preparing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documents
  • Work with Technical and Engineering on testing for new parts or materials to meet customer schedules (PV testing)
  • Work closely with the Purchasing and Production Control Departments to ensure timely delivery of trial and pre-production parts to local or overseas processing locations
  • Work with Technical, Engineering, QA and Mfg. to ensure good part design and workability
  • Work with PE, Mfg., QA and suppliers to conduct assembly trials and feedback results to improve launch
  • Submit reports and documents to customers as needed to keep on schedule
  • Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop training schedules and handoff responsibility
  • Conduct / coordinate quality and capacity reviews internally and at the suppliers (HVPT)
  • Recognize, assign and reduce the cost impact of trials, design changes, transportation, part quality, etc.
  • Any other requirements to meet the customer expectations
  • During slow new model time frames, assist with supplier improvement activity and tracking internal quality issues


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB INFORMATION:
  • Associates at all levels must maintain their Roles and Responsibilities as outlined within SRK-OH’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IATF16949, ISO9001 and ISO 14001. These industry standards are necessary to ensure continued Customer Satisfaction in relationship with our philosophy of Continuous Quality Improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, competencies, experience, knowledge and skills. This should include any specialized knowledge and expertise applicable to the job.

  • Minimum two (2) year associate degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
  • Basic understanding of tooling, schedules, Purchasing activity and a variety of Manufacturing methods and processes
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Advanced Product Planning Quality Process
  • Ability to read and interpret complex part and tool drawings
  • Good computer skills and basic usage of Microsoft applications [Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.]
